Classic Fried RAPA Scrapple Recipe
Ingredients:
1 package RAPA (Original, Bacon, or Sage—your choice)
2–3 Tbsp butter, bacon grease, or neutral oil for frying
Instructions:
Slice the scrapple: Cut into slices about ¼ to ½ inch thick. Thinner slices will be crispier, thicker slices will be soft inside.
Heat the skillet: Place a cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add butter, oil, or bacon grease.
Fry until crispy: Cook scrapple slices for 3–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
Serve hot: Place on a plate with eggs, toast, and home fries, or enjoy it in a sandwich.
Serving Ideas
With Eggs & Toast: A true Delaware breakfast—scrapple, over-easy eggs, toast, and coffee.
Scrapple Sandwich: Fry slices and serve on a roll with cheese, fried egg, and hot sauce.
Sweet Style: Top with maple syrup, apple butter, or jelly for a sweet-savory contrast.
Baked Scrapple Option (Less Greasy)
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Slice scrapple and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crisp.
Tips for Perfect Scrapple
Don’t crowd the pan—give slices room to crisp.
Let it fry without moving too much, so it develops a crust.
If you like it very crispy, go for thinner slices.
